A massive £822.30 raised for ‘Macmillan’ through Turners “Bake off” competition

At the annual Turners “Bake off” competition, in partnership with The Macmillan Coffee and Cake morning, we celebrated a record number of entries and most importantly raised a record sum of money totalling £822.30.

The challenge set by our two renowned and unchanged Judges Mrs Day and Mary, was to produce the best Lemon Drizzle Cake or Six Cup Cakes. With a record number of entries the standards and quality were incredibly high.

Clearly hours of beating, blending and icing were spent by all entrants who proudly displayed their finished cake entries. Our judges, as is obligatory, had to sample each entry weighing up not only the presentation but the intensity, balance, richness, consistency and all round flavours.

Hours were also spent by many more staff members eating the finished products! Which through their contributions helped raise the final sum of money for Macmillan.

And the winners were……

1st prize this year went to Clare Payne.

Our runners up... Vivian Woods, Zsanett Pillar and Rachel Sallis.

A special thank you to Vivian Woods (H&S) who helped coordinate the event and encourage all staff based at our Newmarket headquarters to dig deep and enjoy a slice or two of the magnificent entries.
