A sad farewell to Brian Crump after 29 years’ service...

After twenty nine years’ service with Turners Brian Crump, our Senior Driver Trainer, decided to hang up his keys and enter the world of retirement.

Brian started work for Turners back in June 1986 as a driver delivering raw sugar beet from farms to British Sugar factories within East Anglia before moving into our Temperature Controlled Division.

He then progressed to the Turners world of Driver training during 2002. His manner, transport knowledge and calm Welsh persona was rewarded by becoming our Senior Driver Trainer at Newmarket from 2008. From that day to his retirement Brian delivered and maintained the highest standards of training and development for the hundreds of drivers fortunate enough to work with him.

Many colleagues and friends gathered for a surprise presentation and lunch to mark this occasion. Pictured above are Brian with Sharyn Turner, Head of Turners Driver Training and Paul Day, Managing Director.

The Fuel Management department, where Brian has played an influential role, presented him with his own ‘personalised Welsh’ remote control truck.

Sharyn spoke of her time with Brian and described the influence he has had within her department,“Brian has been a rock within the training department and one of the best judges of character I have met. He has helped advance the training department and my job would have been infinitely more difficult without him. A level head, wise council, warm and friendly, he will be sadly missed from the department and Company as a whole”.

Paul Day echoed these comments and wished Brian, on behalf of all at Turners, a long and healthy retirement.

Brian hands over his position to Robert Young, another experienced Driver trainer at Newmarket who we wish every success in the future with this challenging role.
