Turners become members of The Centre for Sustainable Road Freight...

In September Turners became full members of The Centre for Sustainable Road Freight (SRF).

SRF is a collaboration between Cambridge and Heriot-Watt Universities and organisations in the freight and logistics sectors, with a major five year grant from EPSRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council).

The centre performs fundamental and applied research into low carbon road freight, including both vehicle engineering and logistics factors. As a member Turners will help influence the aims and direction of research in sustainable road freight, keeping the research agenda in line with industry priorities.

Work has already started with the team based at Cambridge Universities Engineering department headed by Professor David Cebon.

Our initial work will be based around truck aerodynamics, the phycology behind driver behaviours and supporting a number of students with their individual projects.

Paul Day commented: “Turners is constantly striving for increased efficiency in our operation. Working with world leading academics in fields that can positively impact operating cost is a massive opportunity for us. It will be hugely rewarding to work so closely with the students and eminent experts. I look forward to seeing the practical changes we’ll make to generate the next phase of improvements”.

Another exciting development for Turners in our quest to improve efficiencies and reduce our environmental impact.
