Francis Flower and Turners a further strengthening of the partnership...

Following the recent acquisition by Francis Flower of Hanson’s Scunthorpe GGBS (Granulated blast furnace slag) terminal, Turners Bulk Powder division has been appointed to deliver the product. This strengthens our long standing partnership with Francis Flower by supplying logistical solutions for their newly acquired business.

GGBS is an environmentally friendly low CO2 cement produced from a by-product of the steel industry. The business is capable of producing more than half a million tonnes of GGBS every year and supplies customers in the Midlands and North of England.

Turners’ relationship with Francis Flower spans over seven years delivering all their daily volume requirements. This new contract has resulted in eighteen trucks and nineteen drivers being transferred from Hanson, and they will play an integral part in executing the service. These vehicles will be supported by Turners Bulk Powder fleet which has expanded to cope with the additional deliveries.

Turners congratulates Francis Flower on the acquisition, it reflects both Francis Flower’s commitment to developing its range of products and services in this sector and the credibility it has for making the most of mineral resources.

Adrian Willmott, Chairman and CEO of Francis Flower said:

“We are absolutely delighted and very excited to announce this new acquisition, GGBS is an excellent fit to our existing product range and will help further our longstanding relationship in this sector”

Paul Day, Managing Director of Turners added:

“We are delighted for Francis Flower, it’s a great acquisition and opportunity for them. It strengthens our partnership and we look forward to supporting their operations at Scunthorpe with the projected increase in volumes”.

”This expansion further strengthens Turners’ position and commitment to the building materials sector of which our Bulk Tanker operations are the leading player in the UK”
